A condition report and/or condition check can be drawn up for various purposes to determine the current condition of an object or collection. Think for example of transport/movement, exhibition, restoration or just a periodic check-up as part of general management and conservation.
The overall aim of a condition report is to establish the condition of an object prior to a planned action or after a certain period of time. Based on the assessment in the report future requirements can be defined and budgetted.
A condition check examines whether an object has undergone a change after manipulation or simply over time.
Possible damages or details that might be regarded as damages will be mentioned and photographed. Whenever necessary a schemetic reference will be made.
